Boys' Brigade at Second Comber is recommencing face-to-face on Tuesday 14 September 2021. We are very excited to welcome all the boys back in person, but this year will still be a little different due to COVID. Please make sure you read the following information very carefully.

All boys must be registered BEFORE arriving down to BB on the first night using our online secure church multi-purpose consent form. Click on the link below to access the form. This same form can be used to register for all youth organisations young people want to attend.

How is BB going to work this year?

To ensure the safety of all our young people and staff, we are diligently working within the guidelines of the BBUK, Education Authority and Presbyterian Church as we plan and manage our return to face-to-face activities. The number of people we can have inside at any one time is limited, therefore sections will be meeting on alternate weeks only and we will be making use of our outdoor spaces as part of our programme where possible.

Sections will meet as follows, and then every alternate week thereafter:

14th September
Junior Section (P5-P7)     6:30 - 7:45pm
Meeting in the Main Hall, with entry and exit via the side carpark door.

Company Section (Y8-Y10) and Seniors (Y11-Y14)     7:30 - 9:00pm
Meeting initially in the Smyth Hall, with entry via the Coffee Bar door.
Exit at 9:00pm from the Main Hall via carpark door.

21st September
Junior Anchor Boys (Nursery-P1)
6:30 - 7:30pm
Meeting in the Minor Hall, with entry and exit via the bottom door.

Senior Anchor Boys (P2-P4)            6:30 - 7:30pm
Meeting in the Main Hall, with entry and exit via the carpark door.

Key COVID Mitigations

Boys should not attend BB if they are showing Covid symptoms or have been in recent contact with someone who is showing symptoms.

All Company Section and Senior Section boys (Y8-Y14) and staff must wear a face covering when indoors.

Boys must sanitise hand on arrival and as they leave.

Boys should use the bathroom at home before they come to BB as facilities are limited.

Parents will not be able to enter the building and will collect boys from the outside doors at finishing times.

Uniform

Picture
All boys should be in BB uniform by the beginning of October. Uniform can be ordered from the BB Shop in Belfast. Order can be taken over the phone and made ready for collection or posted out.

Uniform can also be purchased online: shop.boys-brigade.org.uk/

2nd Comber are also hoping to organise our Uniform Swap Shop again this year in a COVID-friendly format. More details will be available soon.

Picture
Junior Section boys may want to bring a pair of trainers to change into for games.
Company Section and Senior boys should bring a PE kit for games.

ALL UNIFORM SHOULD BE CLEARLY NAMED so that we can reunite lost items as soon as possible.

Fees

Our annual fees remain at £30 per boy. This covers registration fees to BB National Headquarters, NI Region and Belfast Battalion. Programme costs this year will be largely covered by the Education Authority and so 50p is not required each week.
Please give fees to a leader in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and section.

For insurance (along with track and trace) purposes we need the online consent form completed BEFORE boys attend BB. We ask that fees are paid on or before 5 October.

What if COVID hits?

We will be taking every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of our boys and leaders each Tuesday night. If boys are identified as a close contact of a positive case, or are feeling unwell, they must stay at home and not come to BB. If a boy tests positive within 48 hours of being at BB, please follow PHA advice and contact the Captain.

If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Stephen (our Captain) by email 2Comber@boys-brigade.org.uk
